Uterine Cancer (Endometrial)
Cancer that starts in the lining of the uterus (endometrium).
What is Endometrial Cancer?
It is the most common type of uterine cancer. It is often detected at an early stage because it causes abnormal vaginal bleeding, which prompts women to see a doctor.
Main Warning Signs
- Vaginal bleeding after menopause (key symptom).
- Bleeding between menstrual periods.
- Abnormal or watery vaginal discharge, sometimes foul-smelling.
- Pain in the pelvic area.
- Pain during sexual intercourse.
- Unintended weight loss in advanced stages.
Gynecologic Treatments
Surgery is the standard and often curative treatment in early stages.
Hysterectomy
Surgery to remove the uterus, often along with tubes and ovaries.
Pelvic Radiation Therapy
Use of external or internal radiation (brachytherapy) to kill remaining cells.
