Testicular Cancer
Cancer developing in the testicles. More common in young men and highly treatable.
Testicular Cancer Overview
Though rare overall, it is the most common cancer in men aged 15-35. The vast majority are germ cell tumors. Regular self-exam is key to early detection.
Physical Signs
- A painless lump or swelling on either testicle.
- Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum.
- Dull ache or discomfort in the lower abdomen or groin.
- Sudden build-up of fluid in the scrotum.
- Pain or discomfort in a testicle or the scrotum.
- Enlargement or tenderness of the breasts (rare, due to hormones).
High Cure Rate
Even when spread, testicular cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer.
Radical Inguinal Orchiectomy
Surgery to remove the affected testicle through a groin incision.
Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy
Highly effective for disease that has spread beyond the testicle.
